At first we were nervous about the prospect of buying property in Mexico. We research the laws, taxes, banks and property prices. We contacted three different realty offices in Barra de Navidad and Melaque. Alejandra was the timeliest and through realtor we had respond to our long distance requests. She was able to explain the role of the Notary in Mexico, the Bank Trusts and the realty laws as they pertained to Jalisco. She is also from the area, so she was able to steer us away from potentially bad areas, places that would not be a good cultural fit for our family and from sellers who had questionable reputations. I am not sure someone who was not from Barra de Navidad would have had those same insights. In February of 2007, we purchased a home in Barra de Navidad, Mexico.

The property listed was handled by real estate agent, Alejandra Alvarado. Alejandra made a great effort to understand our concerns, wants, & needs in purchasing a home in Mexico.

Alejandra is bi-lingual in Spanish and English, was very helpful to us during the “negotiation” process with the sellers and with many other matters, as our Spanish is nil.

Throughout the purchasing process, we found Alejandra to be very professional and competent. Things are done differently in Mexico and she explained the various processes and always kept us apprised of the subsequent progression of things as they occurred and of what the time-line would be.

We are very pleased to have had her handle the required aspects of the real estate transaction, from sales agreement through closing , setting up of the Bank Trust, and the completion of our Escritura (deed) with the Notario.
